What The Block is
A suite of community services — built for you, owned by you.
The Block is how the WOPR Foundation brings real services to a neighborhood: food, work, housing, health, internet and more. A local community nonprofit builds them, runs them democratically, and eventually owns them outright. Stone Soup Kitchen is the physical anchor; the Joos apps are the tools.

Our mission
From charity to solidarity.
Traditional charity creates dependency. The Block creates ownership. The WOPR Foundation provides the capital, the grant expertise, and the scaffolding — then hands the keys to the neighborhood and gets out of the way.
- No dues. No means test. No corporate sponsors. No strings.
- You show up, you speak, you help decide. A democratic, member-run space.
- Built for us, handed to us. The community ends up owning it outright.
